The situations and scenarios surrounding any great innovation, as observed by many of you, would reveal that there need to be three vital things that come together at once to drive it toward success. These three things are, firstly, a problem that needs to be solved, the second being an attitude or eagerness to solve the problem, and finally the third being the required resources that power the desire to innovate in order to solve the problem.

Today, cloud computing is the very resource that’s powering innovation. In many ways, it helps start-ups, small business and individual entrepreneurs innovate, and innovate without the extra and unnecessary problems that hinder and hamper their progress. By its very availability and existence, businesses can adopt this resource, and can do so swiftly and efficiently. Therefore, cloud computing provides businesses the very platform on which to create, invent and innovate, while always being flexible, adaptable and light on their feet.

A key feature of cloud computing is its ability to provide small businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs with significant savings in term of resources and capital. This is primarily because cloud computing does not require the business owner to own, maintain and service an own in-house server – instead this requirement is outsourced to an external server service provider. Therefore, by choosing cloud computing, businesses are now allowed to save capital, as they share server space, hardware and other resources with other companies and individuals.

Another important advantage that cloud computing provides is the freeing of up of vital manpower. Therefore, with dedicated server space, as well as maintenance and servicing provided by an external service provider, the business manager now need not allocate resources and personnel who are obliged to maintain and service an in-house server. Instead, these persons are now free, and can be used effectively for other productive business activities.

Besides this, resorting to cloud computing makes perfect business sense to small businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs who do not have large resources, capital and personnel to spare. Thereby, by adopting the cloud, the small business need not worry about matters such as the maintenance, servicing and purchasing of server space. As as result, the start-up, entrepreneur and small business can wholly concentrate on making their business succeed.

It should come as no surprise, therefore, that cloud computing has seen a rapid rise in adoption and utilization in India. This rise in adoption can be seen across various industries and disciplines, and can also be seen across enterprises of different scales and sizes. Now, with its immense potential and apparent advantages, the cloud is enabling innovations across various industries and sectors including, the Government, the health sector, clinical research, manufacturing, railways, banking, retail, education and indeed so much more.

Now. let’s take look at the cloud in action and the innovation it is driving in various sectors.

Cloud and Transport Management

Amongst the many issues that disrupt modern city life, transport and traffic problems remain one of the most troublesome. Many cities have tried to solve this problem, but congestion, pollution and traffic jams still exist. Thankfully, however, the IOT or the Internet of Things, (a cloud based platform) delivers a new and improved public transportation system as well as a cloud based self-driven platform that seeks to ease traffic congestion. These measures can easily help bring about change in many cities across the country. Therefore, these cloud based platforms must be used as the breeding ground for innovations such as these, and must enable further customization and improvisation to suit the local and unique needs of individual pockets in the country, whether they be small towns, or cities teeming with vehicles.

Cloud Services in Government

Cloud services are at the very forefront of good governance in the country. In this regard, it helps bolster and boost the government’s e-governance initiatives, which strives to bring good governance to all parts of the country. This it does by helping reduce the chances and opportunities of corruption along the chain of delivery, while also ensuring and improving the delivery of government schemes which are designed to better lives and lifestyles.

Cloud Services and Manufacturing

Cloud services has greatly benefited the manufacturing sector in India as well. This influence could be seen and observed ever since the year 2010, when the manufacturing sector began adopting cloud models. Evidence of this adoption can also be clearly seen in the various research studies carried out in this industry.

In practice, the use of cloud-based services and applications in the manufacturing sector can be clearly noticed in the supply chain, as well as in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) segments. This use of the cloud enables manufacturers provide better connectivity to customers and stakeholders.

Cloud Services in the Healthcare Industry

The healthcare industry is a fine example of the huge difference that the cloud makes to sensitive and specialized sectors. Here, cloud storage enables the industry to securely, efficiently and cost effectively store data in a manner which overcomes the legal, regulatory and technical challenges that the sector is governed by. In addition, cloud storage also helps individual hospitals and chains effectively and efficiently store large data files, including big bandwidth images. Besides this, the cloud also helps them manage authentication, encryption and security protocols. In addition, by adopting the cloud, hospitals can also expand or reduce storage as and when the require , and can do so quickly and easily.

Cloud and Clinical Trial Management

Cloud services are extremely beneficial to the Clinical Trial Management sphere. As such, you can observe that cloud services provide the sector with great analytical power of disparate as well as complex clinical trials data.

Besides this, some of the other specific advantages that cloud services provide this segment include:

  • Control over the study arena: Cloud services enable the management to be in complete control of each trial location. Therefore, the progress of each location can be observed and monitored in real time. This is really useful to data entry professionals in the sector, besides also allowing for cross-site collaboration.
  • Live reporting: Cloud computing enables each location to provide something that can be best described as ‘live reporting’. This in turn provides top-notch data for risk based monitoring or RBM – making data always accessible to the management in real-time.
  • Data across devices: The use of the cloud enables data to be easily transferred between devices, whether they be laptops, desktops, tablets or smartphones. This is completely achieved and made possible by the adoption of cloud computing in this sector.
  • Cloud based research: The cloud provides a centralized location wherein all the data and research is securely housed and is conveniently made available to medical professionals, doctors and experts from other fields, irrespective of where they are in the world. This connected wealth of knowledge will enable the professionals to interpret medical images from cases that have been previously documented and empower them to take vital and key decisions.

As can be clearly seen from all that has been mentioned above, cloud computing is enabling and empowering huge innovations across the world and more importantly in India as well. Therefore, you and your company should embrace the cloud and put it to good use. The cloud is definitely the future, and the future is now.
